2 year old checkup

today was aven's two year old check up and she was a champ. she had to have her finger pricked for blood work and two shots in the legs. she did so good, not one tear and the only part that made her upset was having to wear the band-aids! the tech said she had never seen any child get them off so quickly. she is 35 inches tall and weighs 30 lbs. AND THE BEST PART: she can now eat shellfish!! i'm more excited about this than most, i've been limiting my shrimp and crab so she doesn't feel left out. now we'll see how much like me she really is- hopefully she loves them both as much as i do and that can be our special treat!

fort pulaski

today we went out to fort pulaski- beautiful weather and a lot of civil war history. aven and i had a really good time, but she scared me a little with her determination to run around on the upper deck (the second picture shows how far up it was with no railing). she's fearless... it can be a little tricky for a two year old but if she remains that way through her adult life she will be just fine!! if you're ever in savannah and making your way out to tybee, stop by and check it out.

my flowers might actually live!!

i've been worried that my flowers were going to die, but this morning the mini azelas had bloomed and the color is starting to come back to my sago palm. i've had the palm for several years so i would have been sad if i had killed it. it's came back really well this year, so hopefully we're in the clear. now i just need to repaint my pots :)

from dump trucks to princess

yesterday we were outside playing dump trucks at the playground and after about 30 minutes and aven being FILTHY, she starts saying "princess" (a new word for her). she got a princess accessory kit for her birthday with slippers, earrings, and bracelets and she remembered which bag it was in and wanted it opened so she could get the slippers out and play with them. after several attempts with no success she finally decided it would be more fun to type on the computer with her slippers rather than prance around the house trying to chase tonic. it's the only time he's ever had the upper hand against her- he was a very happy boy!

happy halloween!

aven has been wanting to wear her halloween shirts to school since they're getting ready for their halloween party next week. she was so happy with the winnie the pooh one that blinks. i'll continue to post pics as she wears the others... BEWARE: there are several. i can't wait for it to actually be halloween- aven is going to be a cowgirl and i'm making a saddle and reins for tonic to be her horse. pics to follow when completed! HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO EVERYONE~~

fun with eli

jen and eli came for a visit before we headed to TN and it was so nice to spend more time with them! aven and eli had tons of fun playing on the steps, watching curious george for breakfast and eli was great teaching aven the alphabet with the fridge letters. can't wait to see you guys again, love you bunches!!

horseback riding

today we went horseback riding at the equestrian center and aven had so much fun! the horse she is on is 'roy' and i think she has found her new best friend! she played with roy and helped brush him, chased after the peacocks and the goats, and petted the kittens- she happily would have spent all afternoon out there but it started raining and we had to leave.
