merry christmas, tonic style

tonic after coming home from the groomer.....

hope everyone has a wonderful christmas!

aven's ornaments

aven has LOVED putting her ornaments on the tree this year. i was finally able to find a hallmark series that started the year she was born. it's called "santa's sweet ride". santa delivers the presents in different 'rides' made out of candy. the airplane is a icecream cone, etc. i found this year's in the store and found the last two years on ebay (of course, where else should one look?) hopefully they will continue the series up until she's an adult and not discontinue the line. the pebble's flinstone is just a cute one because it looks like her. hopefully she'll enjoy the ornament tradition as much as me!

christmas party at school

friday was aven's christmas party at school. it was the last day until the new year and of course that meant plenty of sugar!! they performed several dances and sang 'jingle bells'. i was only able to attach one video, so hopefully it comes through well enough for everyone to enjoy. merry christmas to everyone, we love you all so much!!

good morning.....

what a great start to an early morning! this morning has certainly been interesting-this is what happens when you run around the house with your footed pajamas over your head as a cape and your super powers don't warn you about the coffee table. ouch! thank goodness for the boo-boo bunny and my new found appreciation for coffee! the boo-boo bunny has earned his keep around our house these last few weeks! i have to give her kuddos, she didn't even cry. she just let out a very low moan and got up and kept "flying". i had to chase her down to make sure it didn't break the skin (or dent the table). here's to a fairly uneventful day, safe 'flying' to everyone!

decorating the christmas tree

aven is in awe of the christmas tree and had a great time adding her ornaments. she has learned how to turn it on (it has a foot control so she's not messing with the outlets, momma) and will look at each ornament and say "so pretty". happy holidays to eveyone early!!

happy thanksgiving

even though it was freezing in TN and her hands were frozen, aven loved swinging in the tree and was not thrilled to have to come inside. she would stay outside all day if i would let her, chasing the dogs and rolling down the hill in the back. we ended up taking her downstairs in the basement and letting her drive around with her barbie big wheel. we had a great time in TN for thanksgiving, i didn't get many pictures though. aven took one bite of garlic mashed potatoes at dinner and got sick. needless to say, that was the end of thanksgiving dinner for aven. i had a wonderful time with family and visiting friends, i can't to see everyone again for christmas!! hope everyone had a great holiday...
much love to all~

aven's tailgate 2nd birthday party

here are several pics from aven's party- thanks again to everyone for your help, she is such a blessed little girl to have so many people that love her!! aven's party was a tailgate theme (any excuse to watch football and be in comfy clothes and eat good food) so everyone is dressed in their west high and ut gear. aven wore her ut track suit and my sandals were orange. everyone knows orange isn't exactly my best color ;) it was alot of fun and you guys are the best!!
much love to all~

chef cal' vertee

i never have very many pics of me because i'm always chasing aven around with the camera trying to catch cute ones of her. this is from maya's party in alabama over the summer while jen and i were setting up with food and decorations. love you guys and miss you bunches!!

aven's holiday pictures

aven had her pictures taken last week at the statesboro botanical gardens that are operated by georgia southern university. i haven't received the cd back yet, but these were posted on her website and i couldn't wait to post them and share. i absolutely LOVE them!! hopefully i will be getting the rest of them soon and you all will see them again in your christmas cards so act suprised!!

2 year old checkup

today was aven's two year old check up and she was a champ. she had to have her finger pricked for blood work and two shots in the legs. she did so good, not one tear and the only part that made her upset was having to wear the band-aids! the tech said she had never seen any child get them off so quickly. she is 35 inches tall and weighs 30 lbs. AND THE BEST PART: she can now eat shellfish!! i'm more excited about this than most, i've been limiting my shrimp and crab so she doesn't feel left out. now we'll see how much like me she really is- hopefully she loves them both as much as i do and that can be our special treat!

fort pulaski

today we went out to fort pulaski- beautiful weather and a lot of civil war history. aven and i had a really good time, but she scared me a little with her determination to run around on the upper deck (the second picture shows how far up it was with no railing). she's fearless... it can be a little tricky for a two year old but if she remains that way through her adult life she will be just fine!! if you're ever in savannah and making your way out to tybee, stop by and check it out.

my flowers might actually live!!

i've been worried that my flowers were going to die, but this morning the mini azelas had bloomed and the color is starting to come back to my sago palm. i've had the palm for several years so i would have been sad if i had killed it. it's came back really well this year, so hopefully we're in the clear. now i just need to repaint my pots :)

from dump trucks to princess

yesterday we were outside playing dump trucks at the playground and after about 30 minutes and aven being FILTHY, she starts saying "princess" (a new word for her). she got a princess accessory kit for her birthday with slippers, earrings, and bracelets and she remembered which bag it was in and wanted it opened so she could get the slippers out and play with them. after several attempts with no success she finally decided it would be more fun to type on the computer with her slippers rather than prance around the house trying to chase tonic. it's the only time he's ever had the upper hand against her- he was a very happy boy!
